Cross Stitch Pattern PDF - The Laurel Witch - A Witches' Grimoire

Thank you for purchasing this pattern and I hope you enjoy stitching this piece as much as I enjoyed designing it for cross stitch.

The pattern is based on what I imagine to be a magical book, a family heirloom in a Family of Witches, handed down from generation to generation, most likely with great care and secretively, as there have always been those who fear people who are not like them, and those who fear empowered women so greatly, they try to stop them from sharing their skillful magic. I like to imagine what secrets of life this family book would hold and what I could have learned from my great great great grandmothers if I had such a book. I hope this sparks your imagination of your magical ancestral lineage and that you will feel inspired to add their name in honour of them on this grimoire's cover page, OR make it your own start and you yourself are the first family Witch handing it down to your loved ones.

Please note: This listing is for the PDF file only and does not include the materials for cross stitching.

Downloading and Printing Instructions:

Your file will be available to you after your payment is confirmed.
You will automatically be emailed a download link for you to download and save the file to your computer. I'd suggest the easiest way to download it is on your computer, not a phone, as you are limited in the number of times (3) you can download the file.

Once you save the file to your computer (check your download folder if you can't find it), you can either print it out at home, print one or two pages instead of the whole pdf if you'd like, or send the file to your local business office supplier printer.

Design Size:

16 stitch/in - 143 x 169 Stitches

22.6cm x 27cm (8.9 x 10.6 in.)

For the backstitches and line text, I suggest using one strand of floss.

For the cross stitch text initials and date, refer to the alphabets page if you would like to customize it.

For signing the Grimoire with your family name, I suggest to freestyle your name in backstitches, as you would write your surname with a pen on a precious book.

For the specialty stitches that resemble wheat, I like to think they symbolize family members, so please do add as many as you would like and feel free to customize them with initials if you would like!

Fabric:
If you are stitching this pattern on a different size than a 16 count fabric, please note the stitch count and calculate your finished design size before you start stitching.

Please make sure you have enough fabric to add a border all around the design. I’d suggest adding 5 cm – 7.5 cm (2-3 in) around each edge.

Colour: I suggest this design could be stitched on any colour, but I suggest a mottled look, like a tea stained fabric, will help it look like an old authentic grimoire passed down for generations.

If you are new to cross stitching and would like some help to get started with stitching from a counted cross stitch pattern, I have listed some resource links on my blog at thelaurelwitch.com and will keep updating it whenever possible.
