The Laurel Witch Cross Stitch Pattern PDF - Sunwise and Widdershins

When witches cast a circle and do spell work, the clockwise and counterclockwise directions Sunwise and Widdershins are an important part of their ritual.

Deosil or Deasil may be the more well-known used name for Sunwise, but Sunward also works. In the hopes of sparking your interest, that’s all this Stitch Witch will share on this topic!

Some of you may already be Stitch Witches and know all about the powers of spell work.

Some may just want to stitch this sweet pattern in my Little Little Witches Series for Hallowe’en or perhaps for Black November, and that is perfectly perfect to do…

But indeed, this may well be a serendipitous opportunity to hear the ancient calling of your magical ancestors… only the truly interested in magic work will dive into searching themselves online or in books to find out more information on the origins of these directions and how to start working with them in perhaps the start of a new mystical practice. In this case…

If you were waiting for a sign, here it is! Care to unlock some magical traditions?

Yours truly in all things mystical and magical!

Please note: This listing is for the PDF file only and does not include the materials for cross stitching or framing.

Design Size: 156 x 156 Stitches - Do check the stitch counts and design sizes above the colour key.
I stitch most of my patterns 2 over 2 on 28 or 32 count Zweigart Even Weave.

Floss:
The DMC floss amount in the key is for stitching both patterns but I think the black DMC 310 would look wonderful if replaced by a variegated black floss or an overdyed black floss like the Leo & Roxy Cotton Floss – Chalkboard. You may need more skeins if you are using a different floss than DMC.

Beads:
I would suggest Mill Hill Antique Glass beads but really any beads will do. You can also replace the beads with floss if you prefer.

Fabric: Make sure you have enough fabric to add a border all around the design. I’d suggest adding 5 cm – 7.5 cm (2-3 in) around each side for framing.

Colour: I suggest this design could be stitched on any colour.
