The Woman in White – A Ghostly Love Story from Heart Island

Thank you for purchasing this pattern and I hope you enjoy stitching this piece as much as I enjoyed designing it for the Fangirl Fibers Haunted America box in 2022. I am now happy to have it in my shop!

I live in Ottawa, the capital of Canada, about an hour away from the Ogdensburg border crossing into the USA, close to where the 1000 Islands are on the St. Lawrence Seaway that separates our countries.  Tourists from both our countries come to tour a particular island on boat tours of the 1000 Islands. Heart Island, owned by the United States, is part of the Town of Alexandria, in Jefferson County, Alexandria Bay, NY.

The island is appropriately called Heart Island because of a true love story, but it’s also one of those wonderfully spooky traditional “Woman in White” tragic love ghost stories where the ghost of Louise Boldt is said to roam the castle. More on the story in the pattern with some links to the castle.

Please note: This listing is for the PDF file only and does not include the materials for cross stitching. My prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD).

As for many of my new patterns, I share a stitched view from my pattern software first, because my creative inspiration and supply of ideas surpass my ability to stitch them fast enough. Please connect with me on Instagram @thelaurelwitch to see my wips. As always, please feel free to wait to see if I stitch and finish this piece, or stitch it if this pattern speaks to you with a ghostly love at first sight or if it resonates from deep within... perhaps it's the Woman in White calling to you to stitch her. Ohhhhhh!!!! 🖤

Downloading and Printing Instructions:

Your file will be available to you after your payment is confirmed.
You will automatically be emailed a download link for you to download and save the file to your computer. I'd suggest the easiest way to download it is on your computer, not a phone, as you are limited in the number of times you can download the file.

Once you save the file to your computer (check your download folder if you can't find it), you can either print it out at home, print one or two pages instead of the whole pdf if you'd like, or send the whole file to your local business office supplier printer.

Design Size and Thread Colours:

The pattern includes finished sizing for stitching on 14, 16 or 18 count fabrics. Please refer to the key image in this listing for sizing options.

Backstitches: For the lettering and backstitches, I suggest using one strand of floss.

Fabric: Make sure to have enough fabric. Please note the stitch count options above the key and calculate your finished fabric size before you start stitching. Do make sure you have enough fabric to add a border all around the design. I’d suggest adding 5 cm – 7.5 cm (2 - 3 in) around each edge.

Fabric Colour: I suggest this design could be stitched on any colour that will show the white stitching well. I normally stitch my models on 32 count Zweigart Lugana Evenweave or 32 count Linen, stitching 2 over 2.
