The Laurel Witch Cross Stitch Pattern PDF - Angrboda

Angrboda, Giantess of Ironwood, Mother of Monsters – her three children she had with Loki in Norse Mythology about Ragnarök. After reading The Witch’s Heart by Genevieve Gornichec, I created this pattern from an illustration I created but never finished. I was reminded serendipitously about it though when I found a story on this text, You and I are Earth, written in 1661 on a ceramic plate found in a sewer and is now in the Museum of London (please see the last image for a look at it!) and knew I had to complete it. A little morbid perhaps, as it reminds us we will all return to the earth one day, but it also just feels right to honour the tale of Angrboda this way.

Please note: This listing is for the PDF file only and does not include the materials for cross stitching or framing.

Design Size:
122 x 162 Stitches - Do check the stitch counts and sizes above the Colour Key. I usually stitch my patterns 2 over 2 on 28 or 32 count Zweigart Laguna Evenweave.

Floss Colours: all DMC Colours and suggestions are listed in the pattern.

An extra pattern with an additional skin tone option and with slightly different text is included.

Fabric:  Make sure to add enough fabric around the design. Please note the stitch counts (14, 16, 18 count fabrics) above the Colour Key and calculate your finished design size before you start stitching.

For a framed piece I’d suggest adding 5 cm – 7.5 cm (2-3 in) around each edge of the design. She would look great in a little rectangular or oval frame and would also be great finished as a little doll or pillow.

Colour: I suggest this design could be stitched on any colour that shows off the white stitching.
