Designed for nuptials of all kinds, but with magical people in mind, I created this pattern inspired by a Folk Art Baptismal Certificate circa 1765 found on The Public Domain Review, with a loving nod towards my husband’s Pennsylvania Dutch Mennonite familial connection that I have been inspired by in my cross stitch designs before.

I hope you’ll love stitching this to commemorate your own magical love story or possibly as a gift for others who are perhaps tying the knot too! I have a few versions of this pattern in my shop – to explain this using a great quote I’ve seen on social media over the years, “In Canada, we just call it marriage, and since it’s not hockey, nobody really cares which team you’re playing for.” I don’t know who originally wrote this, but I love it and I agree.

I've included the option to stitch initials instead of the poem I wrote, but please feel free to stitch whatever you'd like to make it more meaningful to you!

Yours truly in all things mystical and magical,

Laura Daub - aka ~ The Laurel Witch

Please note: This listing is for the PDF file only and does not include the materials for cross stitching. My prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD).

Downloading and Printing Instructions:

Your file will be available to you after your payment is confirmed.
You will automatically be emailed a download link for you to download and save the file to your computer. I'd suggest the easiest way to download it is on your computer, not a phone, as you are limited in the number of times you can download the file.

Once you save the file to your computer (check your download folder if you can't find it), you can either print it out at home, print one or two pages instead of the whole pdf if you'd like, or send the whole file to your local business office supplier printer.

Design Size and Colour Key:

The pattern includes finished sizing for stitching on 10, 14, 16 or 18 count fabrics. Please refer to the key image in this listing for sizing options.

For additional skin tones, I can suggest replacing the skin colours with DMC 839 as one option. Please do use any colours you’d like.

Fabric:

Make sure to add enough fabric around the design. I’d suggest adding 5 cm – 7.5 cm (2-3 in) around each edge for framing.

Or:

This pattern would be perfect finished as a cross stitch decorative pillow. Do check the stitch counts and sizes above the key to decide how big you want it to be. I have included a size 10 option if you’d like to make it into a larger needlepoint pillow on size 10 mesh canvas for tapestries. In this size using tapestry wool, you wouldn’t have to stitch a whole cross stitch and could use the tent stitch instead - //// (half cross stitches)!
Please note I did not include the colour conversions and amounts for tapestry wool.

Colour: I suggest this design could be stitched on any colour.

I have not stitched this pattern yet but I normally stitch my models on 32 count Zweigart Lugana Evenweave or 32 count Linen, stitching 2 over 2. When I do stitch it, I will share my progress on Instagram
